Happiness is lots of arts and crafts supplies, and good friends to use them with.
The Scandinavian cosy culture of hygge is not so much hitting the UK so much as quietly wandering around in thick knitted socks, lighting candles, and waggling its eyebrows at us from over a Vintage classic paperback and a bowl of porridge. We’re rather glad as there are few things as hygge (cosy) as congregating in a cafe with some friends for hot drinks, cake, and crafts.
Whether you want to work on your own thing or take part in a group project, our Creative Cafe is a regular and popular feature of the group.
We’re not a therapy group, but engaging in arts and crafts has been shown to have real therapeutic effects:
- It can boost confidence
- Finishing projects can make you feel more hopeful in general
- It gives you something other than illness to talk about
- Learning new skills feels really good
- Sharing a skill and teaching someone else something also feels really good.
